Comment Saturday - What is your Favorite Go-To Meal?

Today is Comment Saturday!

What is your go-to meal on those nights when you don't have alot of time?

I have a couple of go-to meals.  I always have frozen homemade spaghetti sauce in the freezer.  In no time at all ,we can have a nice spaghetti dinner.  For a quick sandwich, I like to prepare BLTs.  Everyone loves them and I can get veggies in my kids with lettuce and tomatoes.

For every comment left, I will return the favor by responding to your comment and by visiting your blog and leaving a comment.
I love to hear from my readers and I encourage you to leave comments on any blog you visit.

Ten Tips for Preparing Your Baby Nursery

Where do I begin?  I can remember thinking this when I was pregnant.  I wanted everything to be perfect when my little bundle of joy came home.  I received lots of items at my baby shower and I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed.  I was stressed thinking I wasn't prepared.

To relieve my stress and make myself feel like I was prepared, I set up my nursery as if my baby was coming home tomorrow.  Getting everything in its place also helped me find out if there was anything else I needed. Here is 10 tips to prepare your baby nursery.

1) Have someone else paint your nursery.  My husband was nice enough to this for me.  I really didn't want to spend the day smelling paint fumes which can be unhealthy for you and your baby when pregnant.

2) Purchase any furniture, baby items you will need.  This way you can decorate your nursery.  I remember feeling so relieved when my nursery was complete.

3) Unpack all baby gifts from your shower.  Placing items in the drawers and closets helped me do an inventory of everything I had and figured out if there was anything else that I needed.  I also separated clothes by sizes.  This way I knew what I had for each stage.

4) Stock up on diapers and wipes.  I didn't think I had enough diapers and wipes after my baby shower but fortunately I did have enough for the first six months after my baby was born. Seventh Generation offers Free & Clear baby-care products that include diapers, wipes and baby liquid laundry detergent. Seventh Generation Free & Clear diapers are free of chlorine, latex, fragrances and petroleum-based lotions and come in a range of sizes from newborn to stage 6.

5) Prepare the crib and/or bassinet.  My nursery is upstairs so I had a bassinet that I placed in my bedroom downstairs.

6) Stock the changing table.  Make sure you have everything you need when changing your babies diaper within reach.  When the baby is older it is so easy for them to roll off the changing table.  I made sure I had plenty of diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, powder, lotion and hand sanitizer.

7) Rocking Chair and Lamp- I think a rocking chair needs to be in every nursery.  This way mom has somewhere to sit while they are doing feedings during the night.  Having a lamp in your nursery comes in very handy.  I use to leave the lamp on at night so I would be to see when going in to pick up baby.  I did not want to have to turn the b.right overhead light on.

8) Car Seat - Purchase a car seat that meets safety requirements and install the car so you will be ready to bring the baby home from the hospital.  I was so worried that my dear husband was going to forget to do this and we were going to be stuck at the hospital.

9) Pacifiers - If you plan on using a pacifier, make sure you have plenty.  For some reason, they are so easy to lose.  There are still some missing in my home.

10) Pack a Diaper Bag - This way you will be prepared for when you go somewhere with the baby.  It is amazing how much stuff you have to pack.  Sometimes I felt like I needed to take the whole else but you have to be prepared for anything.

My Experiences of Playing Outdoors with My Family

Some of my greatest memories of my childhood include playing outside.  It was something I looked forward to every spring and summer.  I never knew what the day would bring.

I was fortunate enough to live in a neighborhood full of children.  There were several of us almost the same age.  Back in those days, we would go out to play in the mornings, come home for lunch and then go back outside and play until dark.   We were never bored.  There was always something to do.  Some of my favorite things were riding bikes, playing tag, making mud pies, playing in the creek, and playing hide and seek.

Now that I am a mom, I look forward to spring and summer.  It is my favorite time of the year.  I like to spend time outside with my kids.  I try to show them that there is always something to do.  I am so excited for spring to finally get here I make a list of things I want to do during the summer.  We have been inside all winter and it is so nice to be able to finally get outside.  Here is a few of our favorite things we did over the summer.

- Went fishing - Fishing is a favorite of my husbands so he was excited to take the kids fishing.  My daughter caught her first bass.  It was a proud moment for my husband.

- Went on a Picnic - Nothing easier than spreading a blanket in the grass and eating outside.  Any change to your routine is always good plus my kids love it.

- Going to the Park - We could stay there all day.  Feeling the sun on your face and spending the day with other moms and children is always fun.

- Swimming - We love the water.  It is a great way to stay cool in the summer on those hot, humid summer days here in NC.

- Beach - We take a trip to the beach every summer.  Nothing better than spending the day and evening outside on the beach.

- Spend the day at home outside - Endless games to play .... tag, hide and seek, bubble maker, and paint the sidewalk.  Painting the sidewalk is something we started this past summer.  All you need is a bucket of water and a paintbrush.  Endless hours of fun.

Another great thing we enjoy in the summer is planting a garden.  My kids love to watch the plants grow, bloom, and eventually turn into a vegetable.  Fun for them to watch and a great way to encourage kids to eat vegetables.

If you can't tell by now, summer is my favorite time of the year.  Sun filled days are always fun around here.  Endless possibilities of things to do.  I hope everyone had a great summer and I look forward to the next summer.

September 24 is Worldwide Day of Play.  Kids and families are encouraged to participate. Turn off the TV and play outside.  Physical activity can improve health, self-esteem and the well being of children.  Take the Clorox2 Play 2Day pledge to play outside - http://clorox2play2day.com/
