Reminder - Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is Next Week!!!

The circus is almost here!!  It will be at the Time Warner Cable Arena - January 26 - 30.  It is not too late to purchase tickets.  I am so excited to be taking Payton this year.  I haven't told her we were going....its a surprise!!

Here is a fun fact about elephants - At birth, Asian elephants weigh an average of 250 pounds, and male calves are heavier than females.  Fully grown males weigh in at 10,000 to 12,000 pounds, and females weigh 8,000 to 10,000 pounds.  Despite their size, elephants are agile and graceful in their movements.

For more information, show schedule or to order tickets - just click here.

When ordering, use the code ZEBRA to save $6!!

Disclaimer:  For this post, I will receive 4 FREE tickets to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  My thoughts and opinions are my own.

The whole family loves elephants! We learned that elephants have a memory that far surpasses ours, and spans a lifetime. They grieve deeply for lost loved ones, even shedding tears and suffering depression. They have a sense of compassion that projects beyond their own kind and sometimes extends to others in distress. They help one another in adversity, miss an absent loved one, and when you know them really well, you can see that they even smile when having fun and are happy.
In 2009 when we saw photos of Ringling Bros.Trainers using torture training techniques on baby elephants to make them perform circus tricks, we were heartbroken. We had no idea that this is how the circus trains these elephants entertain us, but now we know, the circus has been hiding this animal abuse for decades.

Students and their teacher at Crossroads Middle School did a class study on captive elephants, see what they discovered.

For over 30 years Dr. Joyce Poole has studied elephants, she is recognized around the world as an authority on elephants. She has been to Ringling’s Center for Elephant Conservation and observed their elephants and trainers and has a lot to say about what she observed. She also reviewed the video below of Ringling Trainers using a bullhook on the elephants as they are waiting to enter the circus ring, and gives her expert opinion about how the elephants are responding to being struck.

When asked about the photos of the baby elephants being abused Ringling says it is not true, they say, “Food rewards, patience and love are being used to train those babies
