Mindfulness Workbook for Dummies

As a stay-at-home mom, I never seem to have enough hours in the day to get everything accomplished on my to do list.  I love having the feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day and when I do have that feeling I get so stressed out.  I can't imagine how I would feel if I had a full-time outside of the home.  I have noticed that when I get stressed out, everyone in my home gets stressed out including my children.  I then have to take a step back, regroup, try to calm each person down and see what we need to do to have a successful happy day.

I always tell myself that I am the cause of the stress.  If I could learn how to deal with it better, then my family wouldn't suffer.  I don't want them to stress out when things just don't go as planned.  That is something they could carry out throughout their life.

When I was giving the chance to review Mindfulness Workbook for Dummies, I knew it would benefit me in so many ways.

Mindfulness by definition is -  the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something; a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness of the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

I loved the way the book is layed out.  It is very simple to follow and understand what you need to do to practice mindfulness.  My favorite chapter is Chapter 6 - Living Mindfully Day to Day.  In this chapter, I learned to do mini meditations (3 minutes) to practice in my every day life.   By doing this, mindfulness can help in my relationships, my physical activities, and help me get a great nights sleep.   Chapter 7 also provides a 8 week mindfulness course to explore more ways to live mindfully.

If you too are looking to reduce the stress in your life and improve your day to day living, this book could help you.  Everyone needs a little bit of help in living each day to the fullest.

Disclosure:   I received this book for free to review.  My opinions are my own.
