Most automotive safety experts rank the windshield as a vehicle’s third most important safety component behind seat belts and airbags. A poorly installed windshield can cause more injuries in an accident. A poorly installed windshield can pop out in an accident allowing a person to be thrown out or prevent an airbag from deploying properly.
Think you can ignore a chip in your windshield? Think again! The windshield provides up to 30% of your vehicles structural integrity, and a chip smaller than 6 inches (or the size of a dollar bill) can easily be repaired by filling it with a special resin. A chip could turn into a crack at any time, often when you are least expecting it. Windshield repair is often a safe and economical alternative to a full windshield replacement. Scheduling a windshield chip repair is easy! Companies like Safelite AutoGlass provide mobile service – wherever your car is – often within 24 hours of your initial call.
With summer here, travel is something everyone will be doing. Whether you are taking day trips or going on vacations, keeping your family safe is the most important thing. There are lots of things you can do to prepare for a safe trip. Below is 10 tips you can follow.
1) Have you vehicle serviced before travelling! This can help prevent breakdowns on the road and keep your vehicle working properly. It is a very thrifty thing to do to prevent future problems.
2) Fill up with gas! No one ever wants to run out of gas especially when traveling on interstates and be sitting on the side of the road in hot weather with no A/C.
3) If travelling with children, always make sure your have your child locks on. Children never have a reason to open the door. Always make sure any child seats are installed properly.
4) Buckle Up! If you are like me, this is a given. It is a routine thing for me to put my seat belt on. It can be such a great measure to take when travelling. It saves lives every day.
5) Turn the radio down. I always have mine on but never too loud. It can be so distracting causing you not be fully alert when driving.
6) Never text when driving! These days everyone does it. Texting is something you can do when you stop for meals or to take a break.
7) Use hands free cell phones. Both hands need to be available when driving.
8) Check the weather conditions of the areas you will be travelling in. You always want to be prepared for any kinds of weather conditions.
9) Keep a first aid kit in the car. This something I have added since having children. You never know when you are going to need a band-aid to make everything all better. It has been nice to be to share my supply of band-aids with other parents who needed one but didn't have one with them.
10) Always check your tires. Make sure the air pressure is in the correct range. Always make sure you have a proper spare tire and tools needed to change your tire. I always keep a towel and couple of old hand towels to use if you have get on the ground to change your tire.
Hopefully, these tips will help you prepare for your trips. If you have any other tips you use, please leave a comment and share them with me.
