ALWAYS Compare Prices

I haven't been blogging in the past couple of weeks because my husband broke my laptop screen.  I purchased my first laptop in April and it has been one of the best investments ever.  I love that I can blog anywhere in my home.  With 2 small kids, going to my home office upstairs wasn't always convenient. 

My husband was very upset when he accidentally broke it.  He knew that I was going to be upset but it was an accident and accidents happen.  I immediately called the retailer that I purchased the computer from to check the prices for repair.  I then called the manufacturer directly for an estimate.  Next, I called 2 local computer repair places for prices.  I was shocked at the differences in quotes that I received.  This is a perfect example for everyone to always compare prices. 

Here is the quotes I received: (I will not mention any names)

Retailer - $600 to return and repair includes shipping
Manufacturer - $230 just to return and look at it
Local Computer Repair Store #1 - $130 for screen, $75 labor
Local Computer Repair Store #2 - $110 for screen, $65 labor - also includes 60 day warranty on repairs at no extra charge

Of course, I went with the last quote I received.  If I had not compared prices, I would have probably purchased a new laptop.

Where Have I Been and More!

Wondering where I've been?  My dear hubby broke my laptop and it took me over 2 weeks to get it repaired.  Thankfully, I got it back Friday and I will be back to blogging soon.  I never knew how much I would miss my laptop.  With two small kids, it is so convenient to have a laptop.  I missed everyone and I'll be back to sharing great deals and how I'm saving money soon.

Happy Labor Day!!  I hope everyone has a great holiday.

Ways I Saved/Earned Money This Week

What a "spending" couple of months it has been.  I feel like all I have done is spend money.  We did go on 2 vacations and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.  I did try to ways when to save as much money as possible.  Hopefully, I will get back on track so I can start saving instead of spending.  Christmas will be here before you know it and I do need to start planning for that.  Am I the only one that has been spending money instead of saving money this summer?

Here is what I have done to save money this week:

- I read all of my Inbox Dollars emails for my account and my husband's daily to add money to our accounts.

- I read all of my MyPoints emails daily for my account and my husband's to add points to receive FREE gift cards.

- No grocery shopping again this week except for milk, bread, diapers, ham, cheese and a couple of drinks.

- Cleaned out my coupon binder and filed new coupons for future shopping trips.

- Compared gas prices online before filling up so I could get the lowest price.

- Used FREE dishwasher detergent samples this week when using the dishwasher.

- Continued to use my FREE samples this week - shampoo, conditioner, lotion, carmex, and toothpaste.

- Continuing to try to drink more water. Not only is this good for me but it will also be a great way to save money.

- Took a survey and earned $3. 

- Cooked dinner every night this week from items in my stockpile.

- The weather has been much cooler so we haven't been using the A/C as much.

- After returning from the beach, DH and Payton both got sick.  Had medicine in the medicine that I purchased on sale for them to take.

- Sent off 2 rebates for items purchased while on vacation.

- Cashed in points for another $5 Dollar General gift card.

- Cashed in Swagbucks for a $5 Amazon gift card.

Zaycon Foods - Chicken Review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Zaycon Foods to do a review of their chicken....40 lbs. of boneless, skinless chicken that is.  Honestly, I thought it was too good to be true.  As we all know, meat is one thing that is very hard to find an awesome deal on.  I was more than excited when I talked to Mike from Zaycon Foods and realized that it was true.  Mike delivered my 40 lbs. of chicken right to my door.

My chicken came in a very sturdy cardboard box with a lid.  Inside the box was 4 - 10lb. bags of chicken.  The chicken breasts are HUGE!  The chicken breasts were not frozen so I immediately began packaging my chicken for freezing.  The breasts were butterflied and I did have to cut them in half and do a little trimming of fat.  Other than that, they were great.  I have cooked 2 meals using my chicken and both times they were delicious. 

Their chicken is:

- 100% natural chicken with no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients

- chicken comes directly from the farm and it has never been frozen

- sold by the case - 40 lbs. per case

- price of the chicken ranges from $1.49 - $1.69 per pound

Zaycon Foods is a privately owned company based in the state of Washington. The company was founded in 2009 to bring fresh meats and other products direct to consumers at wholesale prices. The founders have extensive experience in sales, business management and the grocery industry. Zaycon Foods also sells all-natural lean ground beef, chicken drumsticks and various fruits.

Register with Zaycon Foods to receive emails announcing when they will be do savings events in your area.  When an event is announce, order quickly. The location of the event is announced and all you do is pull up and your chicken is loaded into your vehicle.  What a great drive-thru that is?  Don't you wish all grocery shopping was that easy?
